Organizational Structure
The NWEC, as one of the UAEU research centers, reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research. The Administration body of the Center includes an Advisory Board, Director, Deputy Director and Administrative support unit. The Center has three main Departments including Water Resources, Energy, and Environment. The organization structure is designed and framed to ease the workflow through the center and to allow the working groups to function as desired. The staff are grouped principally by function, in other words, by discipline to increase the harmony, achievement capabilities, efficiency and productivity of the center. The Center includes three major research groups: namely, Water Resources Research Group, Energy Research Group and Environment Research Group. Under the Water Resources Group, two areas are considered including conventional water resources (surface water/rainfall and groundwater) and non-conventional water resources (desalination and treated wastewater). Under the Energy Group, three research areas are considered including energy harvesting (thermal energy and renewable energy), energy storage, and energy efficiency. Under the Environment Research Group, four research areas are considered including air quality, soil, water, quality, and climate change studies. A consultant may be appointed based on the needs of the different projects but should be supported fully from externally funded projects.
