Research Grants Opportunities
The Office of Associate Provost for Research is committed to improving UAEU s status as the leading research-intensive university in the UAE. As well as fostering links with external funding bodies, the APR office currently coordinates two major, internally-funded, university-wide grant competitions.
UAEU has established partnerships with institutions, organizations and companies in the public as well as the private sector in the UAE. This is done to further research in fields of vital concern to UAE society. Cooperative projects with government and other organizations are related to oil and gas, water, health care, agricultural productivity, environmental protection, traffic safety, rehabilitation of concrete structures and many other important issues.
An active research network has been established with key international organizations in countries such as Japan, the USA, the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Korea, Singapore, Sudan and Oman. In addition, there are also partnerships with other leading universities and research centers in the GCC Region and the wider world.

The UAEU National Faculty Research Program (NFRP) aims to support and enhance the research productivity and quality of the National faculty in the different colleges. The program focuses on delivering cutting-edge research. The awarding is made following a competitive process.

UAEU is pleased to announce a new cycle of the SURE Plus program in Summer 2020. The purpose of the SURE program is to promote and support the engagement of undergraduate students in research, thus providing students with exposure to, and training in, conducting research while working in teams with other undergraduate and graduate students, under the supervision of qualified faculty. UAEU is pleased to announce a new round of research funding opportunities through the UPAR program. This program supports cutting-edge research from UAEU faculty. There are two types of application both of different durations. Further details can be found here.
The purpose of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Research Program is to increase the awareness of UAEU students and community towards United Nations SDGs and to provide seed money to the research groups (mostly students) to explore, test and implement their research idea for resilient, inclusive, and sustainable solutions under the mentorship of a faculty or instructor/ researcher. UAE University is allocating an annual fund for an initial, renewable, duration of 3-years to support joint-research projects with other members of the AUA and with a specific focus on areas of strategic importance to UAE. A portion of this fund may also be allocated to support joint-research in basic science areas that would contribute to the advancement of knowledge. Further details can be found here.
A joint research program between the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and Abu Dhabi University (ADU) is proposed. The purpose of this initiative is to develop research collaboration between the two universities, advance the body of knowledge, support cutting-edge research in the areas of interest of the two universities, and improve community well-being. A joint research program between the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and Zayed University (ZU) is established. The purpose of this initiative is to develop a research collaboration between the two universities, advance the body of knowledge, and support cutting-edge research collaborative through a competitive process. KU-UAEU is a collaborative joint research funding program that aims to develop true collaborative research activities involving both KU & UAEU faculty and is focused on delivering joint outputs.
Research projects can focus on basic or applied investigation. The research activity supported under this program is expected to lead to advances in the frontiers of knowledge, and where relevant, practical applications. Proposals are expected to result in demonstrable outputs such as joint publications, graduate student training, or advance the potential for commercialization or generate IP.
