Overview
The United Arab Emirates has taken center stage as a global epicenter for the promotion, celebration, and cultivation of the arts and the vibrant tapestry of art culture. In the heart of this growing cultural haven, numerous international art and literature exhibitions and festivals have found their home, making it a beacon for creativity and expression.
One of the newest is the prestigious Chancellor's Award for Arts competition, an endeavor designed to ignite the flames of creativity and leadership within the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) community.
Beyond the confines of the academic world, the Chancellor's Award for Arts competition seamlessly connects with the broader national strategy for cultural and creative industries. This constructive collaboration, between academia and the nation's vision, is a testament to the nation's commitment to harnessing the transformative power of the arts for a brighter and more creative future.
The award will actively involve students, faculty, and staff members of the UAEU community within the following artistic areas relating to this year’s theme: Sustainability.
- Literature (including poetry, novels, short stories, and similar texts).
- Painting (including oil painting, pencil drawing, watercolor painting, and similar techniques.)
- Sculpture, Design, Craft and Architecture
- Theatre and Cinema
- Music
- Visual Communication (Advertisement, Poster, Themed Design)
The university will establish two committees to oversee the evaluation and endorse the winners of the award. Those committees are the Higher Committee and Evaluation Committee, each will consist of faculty from UAEU and internationally recognized art experts.
*Digital paintings are not considered for the Chancellor’s award for arts.
