About IELTS
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is the language of communication.
IELTS is jointly owned by IDP: IELTS Australia, the British Council and Cambridge English Language Assessment, The test conforms to the highest standards of language assessment, It covers the four language skills:
Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking.
Approximate Test Time
Listening - 30 minutes
Reading - 60 minutes
Writing - 60 minutes
Speaking - 15 minutes
Academic and General Training
IELTS has two versions – Academic and General Training:
- The Academic test is for those who want to study at tertiary level in an English-speaking country or those who wish to apply for undergraduate or postgraduate study.
- The General Training test is for those who want to do work experience or training programs, secondary school or migrate to an English-speaking country. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking tests but different Reading and Writing tests.
