Projects & Initiatives
Research Projects:
- Positive Education, (How would positive education look like in UAE? This was the first research project the center took since it’s biggening. It was a collaboration with University of Melbourne, Prime Minister office and Ministry of education).
- Trends in happiness distribution around the world and the for health across population groups: exploring the heterogeneous effect of last great recession on happiness and the Implications, Faculty Members involved: Dr Tatiana Karabchuk.
- Community Wellbeing: Localizing Walkability Score Measures for Urban neighborhoods in the UAE, Faculty Members involved: Khaled Al Zaghloul.
- Exploring UAE Youth Happiness Index, Faculty Members involved: Dr Marwan Al Mubarak and Dr Tatiana.
- PERMA to enhance the wellbeing of expatriate workers in the United Arab Emirate, Faculty Members involved: Raina Chajjer and Dr. Rashed Al Zahmi.
- Comfort monitoring in Indoor Environments. Faculty Members involved: Dr Parag Kulkarni.
- Exploring United Arab Emirates University Professors and students perception of online
teaching during Covid-19 ,Faculty Members involved: Dr. Najwa Alhosani, Negmeldin Alsheikh Rachel Takriti, Rhoda
Myra Garces-Bacsal, Dr. Hala Elhoweris and Noof Al Jenebi, (Project done in collaboration
with Melbourne University, Prime Minister Office and Ministry of Education).
Initiatives:
- Happiness and Wellbeing Course
Another initiative of the center which was very successful was the Introduction of the “Happiness and Wellbeing” course which was taught to the Undergraduate students. In this course the students were taught a number of scientifically validated strategies to boost their happiness and wellbeing across several contexts, such as their future workplace, home, academics and their community/social life.
- Wellbeing Officers
The Wellbeing Officer project is an initiative by the Emirates Center for Happiness Research. The idea behind this project is to introduce the concept of increasing wellbeing at workplace. The wellbeing officers are a group of faculty and staff members who voluntarily decided to be part of this project and to assist in promoting wellbeing at their workplace. - UAEU Program for Wellbeing
The United Arab Emirates Program for Well-being is an initiative by the Emirates Center for Happiness Research. This program was launched in the Innovation week with a couple of successful workshops focusing on the three pillars of Well-being, Psychological, Physical and Occupational Wellbeing.
Within this program the center has made a special edition of the concept of Resilience. Considering the importance of this trait and to facilitate the people from developing it which will help them deal with their adverse life circumstances, the center has also developed the Resilience Booklet (Click to view).
Also, the center is conducting various webinars which will help individuals get more information on the trait of resilience and how it can be built.
- Happiness Research Talks
Happiness Research talk series titled “Happiness Research: Trek to Wellbeing” were introduced in collaboration with the Department of Government and society. These key-note lecture series on happiness research are an ongoing project which are an one-hour online lectures-discussions. (Know more).
