Overview

Information systems security is of increasing importance in government, military and commercial arenas. In the UAE, in particular, cyber security has become a very important element of the country’s national security strategy. The UAE is investing heavily in cybersecurity, using technology to protect its information assets, to combat cyber criminals, to protect the privacy of its citizens and to protect its critical infrastructure.

The primary objective of this security research group is to bring together expertise in education, research and practice, in the field of information security and privacy and to carry out research that helps governmental and private sector organizations to protect their informational assets. The group cooperates with government agencies to identify risks, to develop solutions to mitigate these risks and to protect the country’s critical infrastructure from cyber-attacks. The group also works with policy-making and regulatory offices to develop and implement security standards in compliance with the highest industry and government regulations. Our researchers are focused on a broad array of security and privacy-related research areas from the theoretical foundations of cryptography to the design and implementation of cutting-edge, efficient and secure communication protocols.
