In celebration of its Golden Jubilee, the United Arab Emirates University hosted the
“Manuscripts Exhibition – Sustainable Identity and Development” in the presence of
H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of
the United Arab Emirates University, accompanied by H.E. Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, Vice
Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, along with administrative and academic
staff, students, and guests from Al Ain. The exhibition was held at the Al Qattara
Arts Centre.
The exhibition represented a qualitative initiative showcasing the history and legacy of UAEU over more than five decades. It contributed to enriching the artistic and cultural landscape while highlighting aspects of the UAE’s environmental and scientific heritage.
H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh affirmed that “the manuscripts exhibition is a highly valuable scientific and civilizational project. It contributes to preserving and protecting heritage, as manuscripts represent the memory of nations and a record of their cultural identity. The exhibition allows scholars direct access to original resources and reveals rare and previously unknown manuscripts, while also connecting new generations with their scientific and civilizational history, strengthening pride in the national scientific identity, and enhancing its standing.”
His Excellency noted that the exhibition serves as a bridge of knowledge between the past and the present, showcasing a distinguished selection of scientific treasures. He added that the University Library houses valuable collections of rare manuscripts in various fields, including medicine, engineering, mathematics, astronomy, grammar, syntax, and other sciences.
H.E. Prof. Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, stated that the “Manuscripts Exhibition” reflects the university’s commitment to its pioneering role in preserving scientific heritage and strengthening its presence within the cultural landscape as a fundamental pillar of knowledge development. He emphasized that the university continues to employ its academic and research capabilities to highlight the cultural value of manuscripts and reinforce their position as authentic sources of knowledge. This contributes to deepening cultural awareness and strengthening connections to scientific and cultural roots across generations.
Coinciding with its Golden Jubilee celebrations, the United Arab Emirates University continues to consolidate its position as a leading national institution in knowledge production and a supporter of efforts to preserve scientific and cultural heritage, reflecting its pivotal role in serving society and promoting sustainable development.
