About Information Literacy
Information Literacy is fundamentally about "learning how to learn." It encompasses a range of skills that enable individuals to recognize when information is required and to effectively locate, assess, and utilize the necessary information. More specifically, it empowers students and researcher to:
- Assess the scope of information needed
- Access the required information in an efficient and effective manner
- Critically evaluate information and its sources
- Integrate relevant information into their existing knowledge base
- Apply information effectively to achieve specific objectives
- Understand the economic, legal, and social implications of using information, and engage with it in an ethical and lawful manner
In alignment with the objectives of the University and the Libraries Deanship, the Information Literacy Program is dedicated to collaborating with faculty to provide students with comprehensive instruction in Information Literacy.
