General Admission Requirements - (International students and children of UAEU staff and faculty members)

Admission to bachelor’s degree programs requires the following:

  • Applying for admission through the official website of the United Arab Emirates University during the announced application periods.
  • Completion of High School (Grade 12) Certificate, or its equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
  • Fulfilling the university-approved English language proficiency requirements.
  • Obtaining equivalency certificate issued by the Ministry of Education in the UAE, for all High School Certificates that does not follow the MOE curriculum.
  • The applicant must not be older than (35) years at the time of application.
  • The applicant must not have been previously dismissed academically or disciplinarily from any other educational institution.
  • Meeting the health fitness requirements necessary to pursue the academic program; in the case of a special medical condition or if the applicant is a person of determination, the condition must be disclosed, and the necessary medical documents must be attached at the time of application.
  • Admission to the university is competitive and based on academic merit. Priority is given to applicants with higher academic results and more recent high school graduation, within the approved capacity of each program. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance into any academic program.
English Language Proficiency Requirements
  • Obtaining a minimum score of (90%) in the English subject on the MOE Grade 12 certificate, or one of the following equivalent internationally recognized English proficiency tests:

  • Students from non-MOE curricula who have studied in a non-English medium school are required to prove English proficiency by passing one of the internationally recognized English proficiency tests mentioned above.
  • TOEFL test results must be issued by test centers accredited by the official test provider, such as AMIDEAST centers, to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the results.
  • The following tests are not accepted to fulfill the English language proficiency requirement:
    • IELTS Indicator tests
    • TOEFL Home Edition
    • TOEFL ITP tests taken from outside the UAE
    • Duolingo test
Exemption from the English Language Proficiency requirement applies to:
  • Native English-speaking applicants who have completed secondary education in an English-medium school and in a country where English is the official language, in accordance with the university’s approved regulations.
  • Students who graduated from private schools that doesn’t follow MOE curricula who completed their studies within the UAE in schools where English is the language of instruction, provided they meet the requirements of the approved international education programs.
Admission to the Colleges and Academic Programs 
(International students and children of UAEU staff and faculty members)
  • Admission to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences is limited to UAE nationals and children of Emirati mothers, and students who have secured funding to cover the tuition fees throughout their studies at the university. Admission to this program is conducted through a single intake in the first academic semester (Fall semester), in accordance with the approved academic requirements and criteria.
  • Admission to the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine program is primarily limited to UAE nationals and children of Emirati mothers. International students are admitted only if they have obtained scholarships, demonstrate a high academic standard, and receive review and approval from the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, ensuring their applications align with the program’s objectives and standards. Admission to this program is conducted through a single intake in the first academic semester (Fall semester).
  • The university may grant admitted students credit hours for certain courses based on their academic achievement in secondary education within internationally recognized systems, such as Advanced Placement (AP), the International Baccalaureate (IB), the General Certificate of Education (GCE) – Advanced Level (A-Level), or any other programs approved by the university, in accordance with established academic regulations and in alignment with the courses specified by the relevant colleges.

  • GCE A-Level: B grade

One of the Science Subjects (Chemistry, or Biology, or Physics): HS 90% or its equivalent:

  • AP: 4 points
  • IB- HL: 5 points
  • GCE A-Level: B grade
