In the presence of H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), the university officially launched its High-Performance Computing Center (UAEU-HPC) — a strategic initiative aimed at empowering advanced research and fostering innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics. The launch event was held in collaboration with several prominent institutions and leading IT companies, and attended by directors and representatives from partner organizations.

This initiative aligns with the national direction set by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who recently announced the introduction of “Artificial Intelligence” as a core subject across all levels of government education.

During the event, H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh emphasized that the launch of the HPC Center reflects UAEU’s unwavering commitment to providing world-class technologies and cutting-edge infrastructure to support scientific research and academic excellence. “This project embodies the University’s vision of digital transformation and our dedication to leveraging advanced technologies to support sustainable development and contribute practical solutions to global challenges,” he stated.

H.E. added that the Center marks a significant step in keeping pace with rapid technological advancements and opens new horizons for research and innovation across multiple disciplines, including science, engineering, medicine, and space exploration. “It strengthens the university’s role in contributing to the UAE’s vision of a knowledge- and innovation-driven economy,” he concluded.

Dr. Maryam Al Yammahi, Chief Information Officer at UAEU, highlighted that this new facility is among the largest academic high-performance computing centers in the country. “It offers an integrated research platform capable of supporting advanced projects in areas such as genome analysis, climate modeling, material science, and security scenario simulations,” she said. “The system has been designed according to global standards, integrating AI and deep learning technologies, with flexible resource allocation based on project requirements.”

Dr. Al Yammahi also emphasized the Center’s robust cybersecurity framework and scalable architecture. “This infrastructure ensures secure data protection, operational continuity, and adaptability to future research needs,” she noted.

The UAEU-HPC Center provides researchers with access to powerful computing systems, vast data storage capabilities, and modern AI platforms. It enables the processing of massive datasets, the creation of complex simulation models, and the development of scientific solutions that meet the evolving challenges of the modern era. Designed for flexibility and future expansion, the Center aims to become one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in the UAE and the region, further cementing UAEU’s position as a leading research institution.
