The United Arab Emirates University Enhances its Research Role in the field of Water

Coinciding with the global celebration of World Water Day, which falls on Friday,
March 22nd 2024 under the theme of "Water for Peace", The United Arab Emirates University
enhances its leading role in society and research through its various colleges and
research centers. A panel discussion on "Sustainable Emirati Efforts to Achieve Water
Security" was conducted by the university, and moderated by Professor Dr. Ahmad Ali
Murad, Co-Deputy for Scientific Research, with the participation of Dr. Mohammed Abdul
Muhsen Alyafei, Acting Dean, College of Agriculture & Veterinary Medicine, and Professor
Dr. Naeema Al Hosani, Acting Director of the Libraries Deanship and Dr. Dalal Al
Shamsi, Director of The National Water and Energy Center.
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Ali Murad noted that on World Water Day 2024, the University aims to shed light on its water-related research capabilities of relevance to the sixth aim: clean water and sanitation. According to the Scopus citation database, researchers from the United Arab Emirates University have published 526 research papers on water-related areas, including Water Resources, Water Security, Water Supply, Treatment of Wastewater, Desalination, Water Quality, Ground Water, Coastal Water, and Water Pollution from 2018 to March 2024 as 75% of the university's research publications are resulting from international cooperation.
He added "the total number of scientific papers published by Texas A&M University and the University of Malaya in the field of water is 50 research papers during that period. According to The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2023, the United Arab Emirates University was ranked 101-200 on the sixth aim: clean water and sanitation, as a result of its considerable efforts.
