The first and only university in the country

The United Arab Emirates University has achieved a significant milestone to be added to its series of local and global achievements by publishing 25,000 Scopus-indexed publications, becoming the first university in the country to achieve this global accomplishment.

H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, has noted that “The United Arab Emirates University has accomplished an unprecedented achievement in terms of its contribution to the global body of knowledge and scientific research. The UAEU is the first and only university in the country that has published more than 25,000 research articles, archived in the Scopus database. Since publishing its first research article in 1978, the UAEU has continued to develop its research capacity and resources with highly qualified teaching faculty members and distinguished students, a catalytic working environment, and a proactive university campus, empowering it to become among the leading research institutions in the region and worldwide. “

He Added “This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our highly qualified faculty members, skilled researchers, and distinguished students. Our graduate programs and state-of-the-art facilities have played a crucial role in supporting this success. This achievement supports the National Strategy for Higher Education 2030, highlighting our commitment at the United Arab Emirates University to fostering creativity and innovation, producing distinguished graduates, and providing society with national competencies that contribute to promoting the future labour market and sustainable development in the country.”

H.E.Prof. Ahmed Alraeesi, Acting Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, has stated that “The United Arab Emirates University has achieved a remarkable milestone by publishing 25,000 papers in the Scopus database as the first university in the country to achieve this accomplishment. We at the United Arab Emirates University are proud of our distinguished faculty, researchers, and dedicated students whose hard work and commitment to this achievement have made it possible.

He added “This achievement highlights the university’s leadership in the research and innovation fields and its continued pursuit of excellence, as the work environment and the advanced infrastructure played a crucial role in supporting this remarkable achievement. The university will continue to work diligently towards achieving new global rankings through steady and pioneering scientific research and to foster creativity and innovation. We congratulate all participants who contributed to this new accomplishment"

In terms of distribution among disciplines, 12.2% of the publications were in Medicine, 11.7% in Engineering, 8.9% in Computer Science, 6.8% in Biochemistry, Genetics, and Molecular Biology, 5.7% in Social Sciences, and 5.3% in Physics and Astronomy. The percentage of publications related to Chemistry and Environmental Sciences was 4.7% each, while 4.8% were related to Mathematics, 4.6% in Material Science, and 30.7% were distributed among other disciplines. 

Out of the 25,000 Scopus-indexed publications, 71.4% were journal articles, 15.1% were conference papers, 6.7% were review papers, 3.2% were book chapters, and 3.6% fell into other categories.
