UAE University Collaborates with 333 Academic and Research Institutions in India

Within the international research collaboration strategy, the United Arab Emirates University established   effective research collaboration with major research and academic institutions to enhance the university reputation and global ranking. The international partners are selected based on their areas of strength.  The Indian academic and research institutions are among the UAE University international partners.

Prof. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Provost for Research at UAE University, said that "international collaboration is a strategic research priority aimed at improving the efficiency of research productivity and quality in order to achieve the university's vision to be a research-intensive university with high research standards and significant contributions to science and knowledge. The collaboration with Indian academic institutions will make a qualitative leap in research outcomes through benefiting from the capabilities of Indian universities and research centers.

Prof. Ahmed Murad pointed out that faculty members and researchers from UAE University cooperated with researchers from 333 Indian academic and research institutions during the period 2017-2022. Researchers from the UAE University published 674 research papers, according to Scopus data during that period, with researchers from Indian universities and research centers. 55 research papers were published jointly with All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, gathering a total of 24,046 citations.

Prof. Ahmed Murad explained that UAEU researchers published 71 papers with researchers from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, according to Scopus data, during the period from 2017-2022. 38 researchers from the UAE University and 92 researchers from the Manipal Academy were involved in these publications. In addition, research cooperation with the Indian Council of Medical Research resulted in 43 research papers according to Scopus data during the period from 2017-2022.  22 researchers from the UAE University and 31 researchers from the Indian Council for Medical Research were involved in these publications.

The Associate Provost for Research added that the areas of cooperation with Indian academic research institutions focus on medicine and health sciences in addition to materials sciences.

Furthermore, researchers from the UAE University and researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay are currently conducting two studies.  The first study is on "diabetes", while the second study is on "evaluation of groundwater recharge from sudden intense rains in dry areas using geographic information systems and remote sensing."
