Joint Cooperation between Medical Colleges to Improve Academic Competencies and Promote Medical Professions

Prof. Ghaleb Al Breiki, Acting Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University,
emphasized the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between the colleges
of medicine and health sciences in the various higher education and health institutions
to improve professional and medical competence, and enhance educational outcomes in
medical colleges through promotion of research and innovation for the interest of
the UAE society, health care and all medical specialties.
The United Arab Emirates University hosted the joint meeting with 8 colleges of medicine and health sciences in higher education institutions at deans' level, with the participation of Prof.Dr. Mohammed Yusuf, director of the Commission for Academic Accreditation at the Ministry of Education, in addition to representatives of health departments and institutions in the country, and the National Institute for Medical Specialties.
Prof. Ghaleb pointed out that the UAE University, the national flagship university, the university of the future, is the national strategic partner supporting all initiatives, enhancing outcomes and upgrading research particularly in medical colleges. This enables them to keep pace with the highest standards of academic evaluation and healthcare care and to achieve the strategic vision of our leadership, which is inspired by the horizons and leadership of the future.
Prof. Jumaa Al Kaabi, Acting Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAEU, said that this joint meeting comes within the framework of the UAEU's desire to cooperate with various higher education institutions in the country, with the aim of strengthening the strategic partnership and cooperation to link the outcomes of the colleges of medicine and health sciences in higher education institutions. The participating medical colleges and health institutions seek to improve the level of medical education, in line with the highest standards in the medical education internationally, for improving the health of the individual and society.
He added that the concerned universities are improving health competencies in line with the vision of the UAE to explore future prospects. They agreed on a number of academic medical goals and standards concerning the competencies of the graduates of medical colleges in the country, for setting a joint sustainable future vision for the development of the medical education system in all academic levels, focusing on professional outcomes, and meeting the requirements of the labor market in all medical specialties, in cooperation with the National Institute for Medical Specialties.
He also indicated that the UAE University hosted this meeting because of its academic importance in establishing a common vision to improve outcomes focusing on a number of academic and professional standards including nine areas, namely, knowledge of comprehensive medical sciences, research, and communication with patients, colleagues, and society. It is also aimed at enhancing the ability to innovate in the medical profession and improving the leading personality of the doctor, in addition to promoting the medical role model in the community, supporting the health system, and strengthening social responsibility.
