Civil and Environmental Engineering Department

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at UAEU has been ranked among the TOP 200 civil engineering departments in the world according to the 2024QS World University Ranking by subject.The Civil Engineering undergraduate program in the College of Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department has more than twenty highly dedicated full-time faculty members. All faculty members of the department have earned Ph.D. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from leading international academic institutions. The qualifications of the faculty members reflect the diversity of experiences and academic backgrounds of the faculty in the Department. The faculty members cover several areas of specialization that include structural engineering and concrete technology, surveying, highway and transportation engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction management, water resources and environmental engineering.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department has several specialized laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment. The labs are managed and supervised by experienced lab engineers and technicians. The experimental work and physical models are regarded as an essential element in the educational and research process. These labs are well equipped to serve both educational and research needs of the students and faculty. The department continuously adds the latest new equipment to help achieving the programs objectives.

Civil Engineering faculty members are highly motivated and research oriented. Over the past five years, they have been involved in the publication of more than 500 journal articles and 300 conference papers. The Civil Engineering faculty members have also been granted 12 patents by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Their scholarly productivity is a result of successfully securing over 125 internal and external research grants, with total funds exceeding 55 million dirhams. Their research impact is further highlighted by more than 22,000 citations based on Google Scholar.
