BIOGRAPHY
Jane originally joined UAEU in 1994, working in the Foundation program for three years before transferring to the EAP department, where she worked for another six years. She taught and helped to develop EAP courses for various faculties, including Agriculture and Nutrition, Humanities, Business, and Medicine. She served as Co-Lead Teacher for the Education team for four years, during which time she discovered the craft of assessment-writing. Jane re-joined the UAEU Foundation Program in 2012, and she quickly became deeply involved in curriculum development and materials writing, and eventually, assessment and a level-leadership position.
Jane became interested in language at an early age, and was fluent in Spanish and French by the time she graduated high school. She started learning American Sign Language a few years later. Jane’s educational background includes a BS in Deaf Education. She earned an MA in Linguistics from Gallaudet University, which is the only Liberal Arts university in the world for Deaf people. Thousands of hours as a language student strongly influence Jane’s teaching today.
Jane loves driving her short wheel-base Nissan Patrol in the desert with friends. She has been a marshal in a local driving club. She has also recently taken up capoeira!
