BIOGRAPHY
Parag Kulkarni is an Associate Professor at the College of IT, UAE University. Before joining UAEU, he spent a decade at Toshiba’s Telecommunications Research Laboratory (TRL) in Bristol, UK where he led a team of researchers and was actively engaged in research, intellectual property generation, technology transfer, standardisation and outreach activities in wide ranging areas such as Internet of Things (IoT), ICT for sustainability (energy and water resources management), smart cities and next generation wireless systems. He is broadly interested in technology and the role it can play to solve problems in different domains and the associated commercialization aspects. He is a (co)inventor on over a dozen patents, recipient of a Toshiba R&D award for co-developing a technology that was successfully commercialized, has widely published his work and has served the community in various capacities such as panelist, industry forum speaker, conference and workshop co-chair and program committee member. He obtained his B.Tech degree from the National Institute of Technology Calicut India and the PhD degree from the University of Ulster in the UK.
