GOAL 1: No Poverty
United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) actively contributes to policymaking at local, regional, national, and global levels, aiming to implement programs and policies to address poverty in all its dimensions. This engagement is rooted in UAEU's strategic alignment with SDG 1: No Poverty and its commitment to public policy research and societal impact.
UAEU's Contributions to Policy and Programs:
- Policy-Oriented Research: The university, through its specialized research centers, Center for Public Policy
and Leadership focuses on critical areas such as economic policies, social policies, labor policies, and education policies, all of which directly impact poverty alleviation and socioeconomic development.
For example, UAEU collaborates with the Department of Community Development to support initiatives that enhance community well-being and reduce economic disparities
in Governance and Public Policy.
- Education for Political Awareness: UAEU also fosters political awareness and leadership skills among students, preparing
them to contribute effectively to governance and policymaking that addresses multidimensional
poverty.
- Global and Local Conferences: The university actively partners with governmental bodies and international organizations
to develop and organize conferences and events aimed at reducing poverty and promoting
sustainable development.
- Community Impact and Engagement: Through events like World Social Workday, UAEU promotes societal understanding and action toward achieving equity and inclusivity for vulnerable populations.
These initiatives highlight UAEU’s commitment to eradicating poverty through research-driven policy contributions, collaborative governance, and community-focused programs.
