Rules and Regulations
It is the responsibility of all personnel, visitors or researchers to protect themselves and try not to disseminate infection to the unit by taking all the required measures before entering the animal holding areas. Please follow these steps to maintain healthy animal population and to protect yourself.
- Please wear hand gloves, face mask, head cape, shoe covers and laboratory coat before entering the animal holding areas.
- Please do not enter the animal holding rooms from the dirty corridor.
- Please do not enter the breeding rooms if not required.
- Please remember, no eating, drinking or smoking is allowed in the unit.
- Please dispose all used materials in the proper pin trays.
- Please do not leave dead or live animal in the working areas.
- Please keep all dead animals in yellow bags and put them in the proper freezers.
- Please always keep the working area/ tables/ floor clean after work.
The facility maintains rodents, frogs, guinea pigs and rabbits for various research purposes. Though, RAF is not a commercial unit, we are capable of supplying adequate numbers of quality animals on request to the outside establishments for breeding and research purposes. Periodic health monitoring of the animals is carried out to ascertain the health status of the animals. In addition, feed and water analysis are carried out periodically for assessing their quality and contamination. Waste disposal is carried out through an environmental friendly incinerator. A dedicated team of well qualified and trained veterinarians/scientists and technical assistants, who are experienced in modern methods of animal care, breeding and husbandry manage the facility.
