Master of Strategic and Defense Studies
The Master of Strategic and Defense Studies aims at equipping learners with advanced knowledge and skills in the fields of national security, strategic leadership, defense and operational planning, and strategic studies. The program explores the complex interplay between military power, geopolitics, and international relations in the employment of the military instrument of national power in a synchronized and integrated manner that achieves national, multinational, and military objectives. It places strong emphasis on contemporary and emerging challenges within the national security framework. The program emphasizes the mastery of operational art that underpins military strategic decision-making skills and strategic thinking to effectively address national security challenges. The program prepares graduates for senior leadership roles and staff appointments in national and international headquarters.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Analyze contemporary and emerging security threats, defense policies, and strategic challenges in regional and global contexts.
- Create military strategies and plans using the military instrument of national power in a synchronized and integrated manner to achieve national, multinational, and military objectives within the context of the national defense strategy.
- Evaluate the contemporary and future strategic and operational environments, military strategic goals, and capabilities of own, partner, and adversary forces in military strategic defense planning.
- Conduct evidence-based research on complex defense and strategic issues using appropriate analytical frameworks independently or as a member of a team.
