I graduated from the PhD program in Nutritional Sciences, in the Department of Nutrition and Health, College of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAEU, in Spring 2023. My PhD journey was greatly enriched with immense support from the faculty in both the Department and the College, which enabled me to achieve my academic and research goals. I am grateful to UAEU for providing me with a scholarship and the necessary resources to conduct my research. My project focused on the impact of bariatric surgery on pregnancy and its effects on maternal and neonatal outcomes in the UAE, contributing valuable insights to the nutritional care of pregnant women post-surgery. With the guidance of my professors and the university's financial support, I was able to publish my findings in top-ranked journals.

I am incredibly grateful for the UAEU dietetics program, which has significantly enhanced my critical thinking and practical skills. The comprehensive curriculum, coupled with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, has equipped me with the tools to effectively assess, diagnose, and intervene in patients' nutritional needs. The NCP (Nutrition Care Process) has been instrumental in developing a structured approach to patient care. Through real-world clinical experiences outside the university, I have gained invaluable hands-on practice, applying my knowledge in a practical setting. Additionally, the program's focus on research, exemplified by my participation in SURE Plus, has allowed me to contribute to the field. Under the guidance of our esteemed faculty, I was part of a research team that leveraged AI to create educational videos about sodium-rich foods and strategies for reducing salt intake. This experience has not only strengthened my research skills but also provided me with the opportunity to directly impact public health. I am confident in my ability to excel in the field of dietetics thanks to the exceptional education and support provided by the UAEU, CMHs, and the Department of Nutrition and Health. Thank you for shaping me into a competent healthcare professional.

My journey at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) has been incredibly transformative. The support and mentorship from our dedicated faculty have been pivotal in my academic and personal growth. Their passion for teaching and commitment to student success are truly inspiring. I was honoured to be elected by my peers as the President of the Medical Students Association, a role that has been a remarkable opportunity for me. It has allowed me to develop leadership skills and foster a strong sense of community among my peers. I am grateful for the chance to contribute to our student body.

The College of Medicine & Health Sciences has greatly facilitated my growth as a learner and professional. The faculty members are committed to helping students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become qualified and competent professionals. This is evident in their openness to questions from students, even outside of lesson hours. The mentorship program is another testament to this commitment, as students have the opportunity to be guided by professors and doctors during their daily clinical practice activities. CMHS provides a highly fulfilling learning experience where student success is paramount. In addition to my academic experiences, serving as the Vice President of the Medical Students Association has been immensely beneficial.

As a student in the Master of Medical Sciences program, focusing on Microbiology and Immunology, I have benefited greatly from the program's comprehensive approach and research opportunities. My work in Professor Gulfaraz Khan’s lab, where I am investigating the impact of oral versus intravenous transmission of EBV using a rabbit model, has been particularly rewarding. The program’s advanced coursework and hands-on research experiences have deepened my understanding of microbial science and immunology. The dedicated faculty provide valuable guidance, enhancing both my academic and research skills. Overall, this program has equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to contribute effectively to the field of biomedical science, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a distinguished program.
