Project Description

The study considers every aspect on generating electricity from the ocean wave. This may include: wave to wire modeling; design and control of power takeoff (PTO) device; simulation / implementation of grid integration; small-scale implementation in “dry” and “wet” environment; etc. Our group has equipped with two wave energy converters (WECs) and grid simulator. There are two WECs available in our labs: linear generator and hydraulic WEC. The current PhD student is expected to work on: 1) implementation of advanced control techniques in the WECs using the framework of hardware-in-the-loop, 2) design resonant circuit as passive controller for WECs.
