Project Description

Water resources, like many other natural resources, do not recognize human imposed boundaries. Regional aquifers that cross national territories are called transboundary aquifers. Among these aquifers is the one shared by UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. The main objective of this proposal is to assess the transboundary water resources between UAE and its neighbor countries as an essential initial step towards a joint balanced water resources plan for the benefit-sharing among all concerned countries. This plan could be the cornerstone of a future joint water resources treaty that aims at protecting the water rights of UAE and its neighbor countries
