The College of Education (CEDU) faculty members are continually engaged in scholarship
activities that contribute to the knowledge base in teaching, learning, and leadership within
their field of specialization. Faculty research interests encompass four major specializations
including curriculum and instruction, special education, educational leadership and foundations
of education, and physical education.
During the past few years, CEDU faculty members have published many papers in Scopus-indexed journals,
presented in conferences, and received internal and external grants. CEDU faculty
members participate actively in journal editorships and in reviewing articles for
several regional and international educational journals and national awards.
The CEDU facilitates and evaluates its faculty members’ research activities through
the CEDU’s Research and Graduate Studies Committee.
The CEDU publishes the International Journal for Research in Education (IJRE) in Arabic and English, which serves educational researchers, practitioners,
policy-makers, and administrators in the United Arab Emirates, the Arab region and
beyond.

Research findings are published in international journals and presented at national
and international conferences. CEDU graduate and undergraduate students through their

International Journal for Research in Education
The International Journal for Research in Education started in 1984 under the name
of Magallat Kulliyyat Al Tarbia at the United Arab Emirates University. The journal
publishes original research in Arabic and English and serves educational and academic
researchers and policy makers. It’s a refereed periodical that is concerned with publishing
empirical research. The journal publishes educational research that pertains to contemporary
educational issues, interdisciplinary research in education, conference and symposia
reports, reviews of recent educational and psychological books, and summaries of university

The College of Education maintains close relationships with educational agencies within
the UAE and region, including the UAE Ministry of Education and theDepartment of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi (ADEK). The faculty provides expert advice and consultancy services pertaining to educational
research, effective teaching practices, school leadership, special education, e-learning,
and educational policy to government agencies, foundations, and private educational
providers. The College’s outreach mission is to enhance learning for all students.
