This workshop is targeted to master s or doctoral students seeking to gain knowledge on how to develop effective professional CVs for the general workplace.

Workshop Description
This workshop will highlight the characteristics of professional CVs. It will first introduce CVs by comparing differences between U.S. and U.K. norms with consideration to the local job market. Thereafter, it will discuss Applicant Tracking Systems and tips on how to adapt a CV to meet the challenges they pose. The session will conclude by analyzing CV formatting and norms. Throughout the workshop, students will have opportunities for practical application of concepts, along with opportunities to ask questions and clarify outstanding details on the topics covered. In a second session at a later date, we will examine how to write cover letters.
Resources
As this session will be held virtually, students are requested to attend using a PC or Mac. We will use collaborative documents, making a PC imperative for full participation. Attendees are also encouraged to bring any professional documents they might already have. This includes either e-documents on laptops/tablets or pre-printed materials.
