Professor Hala Elhoweris

Professor Hala Elhoweris is a Professor of Special and Gifted Education holding a doctorate in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Special Education. Prof. Elhoweris ' research interests include inclusive education, equity and diversity issues in education, gifted education, and assessing and teaching students with exceptionalities. She has delivered several presentations at various international and regional conferences and has published numerous research articles and book chapters on these topics. Prof. Elhoweris has engaged in various consultation activities for the Ministry of Education (MoE), Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEK), the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood (SCMC), and the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences on several educational programs, including gifted and special education. She has also served as a reviewer, guest reviewer, and editorial board member for several scholarly journals within her field of expertise.

During her tenure at UAEU, Prof. Elhoweris has held various leadership roles, including Acting Dean of the College of Education and Chair of the Department of Special and Gifted Education. Professor Elhoweris currently serves as the Chair of the College of Education's Accreditation Committee and has over 20 years of teaching experience at various universities across the United States and the United Arab Emirates. Prof. Elhoweris received the College Excellence Award in Service for the 2014-2015 and 2024-2025 academic years. Additionally, she earned the University Excellence Award in service during the 2024/2025 academic year. She has also received several awards for publishing in highly reputable journals.
