Abdulla bin Zayed Witnesses the Graduation Ceremony of the 42nd Cohort of UAEU Students

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, May Allah protect him, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, attended the graduation ceremony of the 42nd cohort of UAEU students who graduated with distinction, which comprises 621 male and female students from undergraduate and postgraduate programs (Master's and Ph.D.) from various specializations and colleges, which was held in the Great Hall of the Crescent Building on the university campus in Al Ain.

The ceremony was attended by His Highness and a number of sheikhs, ministers, ambassadors, senior officials, and parents of the graduates.

The ceremony began with the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates, followed by the screening of a documentary film about the UAEU journey. In addition, the graduates of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences took the Medical Oath.

His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to His Highness the President of the UAE and the Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University said in his speech: "What the university has achieved since its establishment until today translates the approach of its founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, May Allah rest his soul, and his wise vision to be the University of the Future, a beacon of science and knowledge, and a center for cultural and intellectual radiation."

His Excellency extended his sincere gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, May Allah protect him, and said, "We appreciate His Highness's boundless support for higher education in the country, and we pray to Allah to grant success to the UAE under his wise leadership so that its flag will always remain raised high in all regional and international forums."

His Excellency added, "We are pleased with the distinguished scientific position that the United Arab Emirates University occupies today, and that we harvest its results in the graduation ceremony of the 42nd cohort of our sons and daughters who are proud of their identity and belonging, and who are strengthened by their national values."

His Excellency emphasized, "The United Arab Emirates University will continue its scientific and academic journey with passion and diligence. This is to prepare generations of highly qualified graduates with high technical and professional skills, who contribute to achieving the requirements of the country's national agenda, leading to the UAE Centennial 2071, in all scientific and humanitarian sciences, which includes advanced sciences in medicine, engineering, environment, and sustainability, climate change and space, genetic engineering, and artificial intelligence to contribute in supporting the sustainable development process, and  reinforcing our wise leadership endeavor  in foreseeing the future over the next 50 years and aspiring for global leadership."

The student Ahmed Mohammed Al-Otaiba delivered the speech of the graduates, in which he said, "The realization of hopes and the embodiment of visions can only be achieved through science, the relentless pursuit towards the platform of excellence and the path of success, and the attainment of leadership in various fields. From here, our university was and still is a beacon for learning, knowledge, thought, and creativity, inspired by the thought of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, May Allah rest his soul."

He added, "On behalf of my fellow graduates, I would like to extend my deepest thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, May Allah protect him, for his unlimited support and continuous care to develop education in the country and to raise it towards a bright future. This is a special occasion for all of us. It always reflects the care and attention that our wise leadership provides to its students, in order to build the nation's progress and future, harness the energies to serve it, and provide the capabilities for its pioneering journey."

This cohort comprises 2584 male and female students, 621 students of whom graduated with distinction.

It is worth mentioning that the United Arab Emirates University was founded in 1976 by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan to be the first national university with a vision of becoming a leading academic and research center of its kind in the region. Over more than five decades ago, the university witnessed the development and expansion of colleges and academic courses that kept pace with the latest academic trends in the world.

The university has more than 14,000 male and female students enrolled in nine colleges, and more than 900 faculty members.
