In the presence of H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President, Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) held its Annual UAEU Convocation for the 2024/2025 academic year on Monday, September 9, 2024, in the Great Hall of the Crescent Building on the university campus. The event was attended by members of the teaching faculty, administrations, and students.

In his opening speech, His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh reaffirmed that with the start of the new academic year, UAEU renews its commitment to advancing knowledge, science, and innovation across all fields. This aligns with the UAE’s vision in preparation for the next fifty years.

He highlighted the UAE's strategic steps to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) across all sectors of society, aiming to enhance economic prosperity and improve the quality of life for its citizens. He emphasized UAEU's role in this effort through its research and studies, which help direct the use of AI to benefit both local and global communities. He added, "UAEU continues to strengthen its academic standing through world-class educational programs and distinguished research. In 2023, the university published over 2,700 peer-reviewed articles, with 65% of them appearing in top-tier journals."

Additionally, Prof. Bo An, Co-Director of Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (AI. R) - Nanyang Technological University – Singapore, delivered a presentation on "Artificial Intelligence and Social Impacts." He discussed the role AI can play in improving

process accuracy, analyzing big data, providing insights for informed decision-making, anticipating future challenges, and addressing them proactively. AI also empowers communities by fostering innovation and improving access to education and healthcare, opening new doors for social innovation and human development.
