His Excellency Zaki Nusseibeh Signs the Transportation Container for the 'Al Ain Sat-1' Satellite

H.E. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the President of the UAE and Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University, has signed the transportation container for the "Al Ain Sat-1" satellite. This is a key step towards the eagerly anticipated October launch of the satellite, which is the University’s first, produced under a national initiative that aims to advance space science and technology in the UAE.
In his address, the Chancellor stressed that the launch of the 'Al Ain Sat-1' satellite symbolizes UAEU’s commitment to national policies for space science development and the industrious rigor of its scientific and technological collaboration with global academic and research institutions.
H.E. described the collaboration between UAEU and international partners that led to the “Al Ain Sat-1”. The project will use advanced technology to study and analyse the Earth’s environment to provide precise data that will contribute to a better understanding of the Earth’s environment, its challenges, and potential innovative solutions. It is also a landmark in the path towards further achievements in space science and supports the skill-development of young Emiratis – motivating them to innovate.
He affirmed that the UAEU will continue to support the UAE space sector with innovative research and projects. It aims to position the UAE at the centre of global space innovation.
The "Al Ain Sat-1" satellite will conduct radiometric measurements and analyse the vegetation cover. It will provide reliable scientific data that can be used across many fields. The outcomes will strengthen UAEU’s reputation within the UAE and internationally.
