A delegation from the UAE University discussed means of research and academic cooperation with a number of research centers and scientific institutes in Italy. This visit is in line with the university's plan to enhance future international cooperation by fostering partnerships through joint strategic research projects with major institutes and research centers.

The university delegation consisted of Prof. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Provost for Research, and Prof. Maamar Benkraouda, Dean of the College of Science. The visit took place over a three-day period, which was during the end of last April.

Prof. Ahmed Ali Murad explained, “This research and academic visit align with the university's strategy to foster an enticing research environment through impactful international research collaboration. This approach aims to ensure effective utilization of infrastructure, thereby positively impacting the university's global ranking. International research cooperation significantly contributes to the achievement of research outputs that have an international impact on the development of science.”

Prof. Ahmed Murad confirmed the selection of several scientific research centers in Italy that specialize in basic sciences and physics. These centers focus on medical and biological applications that address societal challenges and contribute to enhancing the quality of life for communities.

The UAEU delegation visited the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) in Rome, where they were briefed on scientific experiments conducted in the laboratories. Following that, they visited "STMicroelectronics Srl", a specialized company with scientific laboratories in Milan. On the last day, they visited "Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste", a non-profit company specialized in scientific research related to physics and materials science. During these visits, discussions were held on ways of joint collaboration, such as research cooperation, student and academic exchange, and other topics concerned with establishing partnerships with international academic institutions.
