The United Arab Emirates University was included, for the first time, in the Academic Rankings of World Universities (Shanghai Global Ranking), which included 2,500 world universities nominated based on several important indicators related to scientific research.

Prof. Ahmed Murad - Associate Provost for Research at UAEU and Chairman of the International Ranking Accelerators – Emphasized that This ranking enhances the position of the United Arab Emirates University, As a leading institution in scientific research, working to achieve the best and highest international standards and empowering its academic outputs, in line with the "UAE Vision 2031" which aims to establish a pioneering and excellent system by enhancing government performance in order to achieve results and effectiveness across all levels.

The Associate Provost for Scientific Research noted that the ARWU ranking utilizes various objective indicators to rank global universities, these indicators include the number of graduates, and employees with awards and medals, In addition to the number of researchers whose research has been cited as well as the number of published articles In science and nature journals, the number of articles indexed in science as well as the extended citation index, the social sciences citation index in the science network, and individual performance criteria within the university.
