The United Arab Emirates University celebrates World Water Day through its Scientific Research

Dr Ahmed Murad: The University has published 669 scientific research papers concerning the optimisation of water resources
The United Arab Emirates University today participated in the United Nations World Water Day, joining the UAE and nations across the world in celebration of the importance of sustainable use of water resources.
Dr Ahmed Murad, Associate Scientific Research Commissioner for the UAEU Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai said, The UAEU supports the efforts made by the United Arab Emirates to preserve fresh water by aligning its work to the implementation and achievement of national strategic priorities. At the UAEU our colleges and specialised Research Centres prioritise research that delivers innovative scientific solutions to the use and supply of water. In addition we offer academic programs that qualify graduates in the specialised domain of water use and supply. We have for example Masters and Doctoral Programs in Water Resources offered by the College of Engineering, and a Master in Ecology offered by the College of Science .
He added, The UAEU prioritises R&D to drive the progress of the nation. In 2012 we established the interdisciplinary National Center for Water and Energy, to serve as the fulcrum of our R&D in the domain of water resources .
Recently published statistics confirmed the high standing of the UAEU s research profile in the science of water resource management and the development of innovative and advanced technological solutions. According to the Scopus database, research scientists and faculty members of the UAEU have published 669 papers between 2017 and 2022.
Dr Murad said, These statistics confirm that the UAEU contributes to the foundation of a sustainable knowledge economy in the UAE. The UAEU takes pride in the contributions made by our researchers and students. They provide innovative and original theoretical and applied solutions to water resource management, helping the nation to identify strategies and solutions that will secure the sustainability of water resources both nationally and globally .
