UAE University organizes the second Women's Research Forum

On the occasion of Emirati Women's Day
The Office of the Associate Provost for Research at the United Arab Emirates University organized the "UAEU Second Women's Research Forum", which coincides with the country's celebrations of Emirati Women's Day.
In his welcoming speech, Prof. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Provost for Research, said that Emirati Women’s Day, which falls on August 28 of each year, is one of the remarkable days in the history of the UAE. The UAE University pays great attention to the possibilities that help Emirati women to be active members in society through high-quality education and a research innovative environment. The percentage of Emirati women among the total female faculty members is 28.9%. While the percentage of Emirati female faculty members among national faculty members is 47.3%, which confirms the university’s interest in the Emirati women to become faculty members that contribute to achieving development and growth. In addition, 17 Emirati female researchers and students have obtained patents.
He added that the UAEU Second Women's Research Forum reviews the research achievements of Emirati researchers, as a group of distinguished Emirati researchers from different scientific disciplines participated in the forum, and presented the results of their scientific research. The researchers at the UAE University published 59 research papers related to the fifth goal of the sustainable development goals on gender equality. The Female researchers published 928 research papers during the period from 2017-2022, and the number of citations for these published research is 14,430, which confirms the quality of the research outcomes of Female researchers. The United Arab Emirates University, through the Office of the Associate Provost for Research, offers many research funding grants to enable female researchers to contribute effectively to the growth and development of the country.
Dr. Dalal Al Shamsi, Director of the National Water and Energy Center, presented a research paper entitled: “Applications of Natural Radiation for Hydrogeological and Environmental Assessment of Ground Water in the UAE.” In the second paper, the student Noura Joaan Al Mazrouei presented a paper entitled: “Recycling 3D printer waste with local silica soil to preserve the environment.” Finally, the students Amna Al Rashidi, Amna Al Shehhi, Asma Khalil, and Sabah Al Haddad presented the fourth paper at the Women’s Research Forum, entitled “Aircraft Painting”.
