The College of Science at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) launched its ‘Science Leaders’ initiative recently. Aiming to inculcate a selfless voluntary spirit this event formed part of the Eighth Science Dialogue, organized by the College of Science and the UAEU Social Club.  

Professor Ahmed Murad, Dean of the College of Science, explained that these dialogues aimed to shed light on volunteering in academia and also launch initiatives that better prepare UAEU graduates to be leaders in their respective fields. He stated that a total of 50 students - 10 from each department - will be selected for this initiative at the beginning of the 2017/2018 academic year.

The Eighth Science Dialogue discussed the meaning of voluntary work in academia. It was felt that voluntary work shows a degree of professionalism and is also very satisfying as faculty willingly offer of their best to students and wider society.
