The College of Law at the United Arab Emirates University holds the first meeting of its advisory board

The College of Law at the United Arab Emirates University held the first meeting of its advisory board recently. The meeting, on Sunday 4th October, 2015, was attended by Professor Mohammed Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al Qasimi, dean of the College of Law and members of the advisory board. It was held in the Crescent Building on the Maqam Campus.
Dr. Mohammed Al Baili welcomed the members of the board and stressed the important role it plays in supporting the college as part of UAEU’s strategy to establish advisory boards as it strives towards the support of leadership and excellence in higher education at both regional and global levels. UAEU also seeks to meet the needs of the labor market. He added that, “the Advisory Board serves as a link between the university and community in order to improve the university’s pursuit of its strategic goals and desired outcomes.”
Professor Mohammed Al Qasimi, dean of the College of Law, presented the programs and plans that are offered by the College. The meeting also discussed the challenges facing the college and proposed some solutions. Developing new and existing programs was also discussed, in addition to concerns regarding professional accreditation and compliance with the needs of the labor market.
His Excellency Judge Dr. Abdulwahab Abdoul, President of the Federal Supreme Court, was chosen as President of the Council and Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Awadi, Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs was appointed as Vice-President. This was agreed in the presence of Dr. Jamal Al Sumaiti, Director General of the Dubai Judicial Institute; Mr. Mohammed Bin Dalmouk (lawyer); Dr. Fahd Al Sabhan (lawyer), and Dr. Abdullah Hasan, deputy dean of the College of Law at UAEU.
