The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University organizes a Heritage Day event

Professor Saif Al Qaydi, Dean of College of Humanities and Social Sciences, opened a Heritage Day event organized by the United Arab Emirates University, on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015, in the amphitheater of the Grand Hall in the Crescent Building on the Maqam campus. It was aimed at spreading awareness of the importance of national heritage and its foundations.
His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, Vice Chancellor of the university, visited the exhibition, ‘Elle Malo Awwal Malo Tali’. This was a continuation of the previous exhibition and part of the college’s overall strategy. During the visit he viewed the contributions of various authorities, institutions and student clubs.
Dr. Naeema Al Hosni, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, talked about the role of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan in instilling patriotism and heritage in the hearts of his people. She said that, “the preservation of heritage preserves originality and is an expression of national awareness”.
The event included activities highlighting the heritage of the UAE. It was designed to educate others about the culture. During the morning a film of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan was shown concerning the revival of national heritage. A Yola dance was performed by the students of the Al Sadara School. Dr. Fatima Al-Sayegh of the Department of History and Archaeology in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, gave a lecture in the evening session entitled, “National Identity – causes and solutions”. It was followed by a poetry evening with poetry from Ahmed Mannai and Ali Al Qahtani.
