UAEU Organizes Two Lectures on Noise Pollution and Water Security on National Environment Day

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) organized two lectures on noise pollution and water security on Sunday, February 8th, in the crescent building theater at UAEU. The titles dealt with the challenges and sustainability of these issues as the UAE marked the 18th National Environment Day with the slogan, “A Green Economy: Innovation and Sustainability.” This is a reflection of the national leadership’s interest in the environment.
UAEU participates fully in events which promote the dissemination of knowledge in the wider community. These lectures focused on the environment and targeted faculty and students alike in order to raise awareness to the importance of preserving the environment and the risks that endanger it. The first lecture was delivered by Dr. Hamza Abdul Karim. Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law, on “Noise Pollution: in Feqh and Law.” He defined noise as it is in the Holy Qu’ran, Sunnah, Feqh, and in UAE law before explaining the fines that can be imposed for disturbing others.
Dr. Ahmed Murad, Vice Dean of the College of Science at UAEU, delivered a lecture on “Water Security in the UAE: Challenges and Sustainability”, in which he addressed the scarcity of groundwater in the UAE, the Emirates low proportion of global water resources and the challenges that imposes to conserve water and pursue suitable water management policies.
