Overview
Operation and Emergency Section supervises all aspects of emergencies and crises task at the university and find an integrated mechanism for response and recovery by ensuring the existence of the components and functions necessary for emergency management, in addition to setting a logical sequence of procedures and stages through which the decision-making process is implemented based on familiarity with the situation, the expected effects and the available capabilities.
Security and Safety Unit
Workplace health and safety is all about sensibly managing risks to protect your community and business. Good Health and Safety is a strong leadership involving top management, employees and all other interested parties. In a global context, health and safety is also an essential part of the movement towards sustainable development.
Apart from that health and safety involves moral, social and financial obligations among community. UAEU is committed to developing an OH&S culture by By maintaining the place to work, study and live for faculty, staff and students. It is committed to ensuring elimination of hazards wherever reasonable & practical and also mitigate risks based on hierarchy of controls. It is also committed to ensure applicable legal requirements are met and that a program of continual improvement is in place. In order to achieve this A framework of roles and responsibilities have been established at all levels of the university.
UAEU Safety system is certified for ISO 45001:2018 standard requirements. The scope of activities includes overseeing and monitoring general operational safety across campus, contractor management, residential accommodation and laboratories. It is achieved through proactive and reactive indicators which includes but not limited to periodic OH&S inspection, audit, training, safety meetings, emergency drills, safety hazard observation card (SHOC), incident management, data management, corrective action plans and improvement programs.
Security and Safety Unit is an integral part of the university community and the department functionally under Facility Management Department (FMD).

Awareness and prediction Unit
The responsibilities of the Awareness and Prediction Unit include raising the university's preparedness in emergencies, crisis and disasters through managing the risk within the university and linking it to the national framework, setting policies and standards related to risk assessment and management, in addition to developing the response and recovery framework, and policies and standards related to response and recovery in emergencies and crisis or disasters.
It also includes risk assessment, exercise guidelines, testing plans, the readiness of the concerned authorities, setting standards for monitoring and coordinating the testing of approved plans, and managing awareness and training in raising the level of awareness of the university community, by organizing and setting programs related to training, educating and raising awareness of the community and contributing to building public knowledge related to disaster risks.
