Project Description
Plants deal with different environmental challenges. These stresses have detrimental effects on plant survival. Pant defense response to stresses is orchestrated by crosstalk of hormonal networks regulating plant functions. Our overall goal is to identify common genes regulated by environmental stresses encoding proteins implicated in plant disease resistance and abiotic stress tolerance. A microarray-based analysis of Arabidopsis genes in response to pathogen and abiotic stress response pathways will be studied for their regulation to disease and stress responses. The function of these regulated genes could identify targets for genetic modification to improve plant resistance to multiple stresses.
