Project Description
The molecular epigenetic regulatory mechanisms which operate during normal development and differentiation sense early developmental cues and adjust development so that the foetus fits best to both the immediate as well as the future adult life environment and that in metabolic diseases such as T2D, obesity and gestational diabetes these epigenetic regulatory mechanisms and their targets are altered. The study proposes to identify these molecular epigenetic mechanisms and their targets and to evaluate their role in the metabolic diseases of T2D, obesity and gestational diabetes in the hope that knowledge gained may aid in the development of better intervention strategies.
