Agreement between
Abu Dhabi Economic
Development Dept. and UAEU
UAEU and the Abu Dhabi Economic
Department have signed an
agreement of common cooperation
aiming to coordinate and exchange
expertise between the two parties
so as to develop research, scientifc
and specialized academic studies in
Engineering and its associated areas
by focusing on general strategies
and the systems which are being
developed, formulated or suggested
by the two parties. The agreement
was executed on the 26th of June
2011 at the Department Headquarter
by Mohammad Omar Abdullah, the
Department Deputy Manager and
Dr. Abdullah Saad Al-Khanbashi,
UAEU Vice Chancellor. The event was
attended by a number of ofcials of
the two parties.
Dr. Abdullah Saad Al-Khanbashi said
that the University is focusing on
graduating engineers to join the
labor market and to raise the level
of education in engineering and
developing at the same time the
engineer’s performance and skills.
In his turn, Mohammad Omar
Abdullah said that the conclusion
of this agreement by the Economic
Department comes within its
responsibilities and duties by
suggesting economic policy and
direction in cooperation with the
government and semi-government
authorities, academic and scientifc
institutions, and the concerned
authorities at the federal and local
levels.

8 Students Finished their
Six-Month Training Program
at Airbus - Toulouse, France
A scholarship aviation training
program was launched by ADEC
and Mubadala Aviation, to provide
practical training in aviation to
students by Airbus in Toulouse,
France. The program aims to expose
qualifed Nationals with expertise
in aviation to a wide range of
career opportunities globally.
In cooperation with Mubadala
Aviation Company and Airbus,
a ceremony was organized by
ADEC to mark the graduation of
8 students from the practical
training program they conducted
with Airbus. The students who
joined the scholarship program in
February 2011, started with a two-
week theory course followed by 22
weeks of practical training, during
which time they were introduced
to the international aviation
industry participating in practical
activities and projects in diferent
sections of the Airbus Company.
H.E. Salem Al Sairi (Executive
Director of Support Services in
ADEC) said: “Through the Higher
Education Strategic plans, the
Council aims at enabling qualifed
Nationals with expertise to build a
knowledge based society, which is
a core aspiration of the Abu Dhabi
2030 Vision that aims to achieve a
shift from an oil based economy
to focus on other modern sectors,
notably the Aviation sector�?.
H.E. Al Sairi announced that the
programwill be delivered over a fve-
year period, to acquaint 50 students
(both male and female) with the
professional work environment in
Airbus, and introduce them to new
cultures and societies. We should
take into consideration that Airbus
counts as a major manufacturer
of Airplanes in the world. He also
added that this training will be
counted as approved Credit Hours
included in the students portfolios
for graduation.Saoud Abdulla
Yousef Ali Al Hammadi, a participant
from the UAEU Mechanical
Engineering Department, and
Eman AbdulkarimMohamed Ali
Dashti, from the UAEU Chemical
Engineering Department, expressed
their gratitude for the opportunity
provided by ADEC, Mubadala,
and Airbus to join the program.
Eman continued: “This program
gave me a great deal of practical
knowledge about aviation�?, adding
that “As a student in the department
of Chemical Engineering at the UAE
University, I’ am now ambitious to
continue my education to obtain
a Master’s degree in Aviation,
as it is an exciting opportunity
that will serve the UAE in future
and I recommend it to those
who have the passion for it�?.
