UAEU is a Destination for
Geographical Photos
in the
The geographical photo has as its
goal and aim to be diferent from
the ordinary photo or picture. It is
an embodiment of natural, aerial,
demographic, environmental and
geographical scenery that stands
as a window to help understand
nature and its wonderful details.
Unfortunately, the geographical
photo has remained for decades
neglected and has do not been
displayed as a work of art like other
photos and pictures. Fortunately
this has started to change in UAEU
with the launching of the frst
exhibition of geographical photos
which was organized by the Arabic
National Geographic Magazine
in cooperation with the UAE
University and under the Patronage
of H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak
Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher
Education & Scientifc Research,
Chancellor of UAEU, The UAEU was
one of the destinations for of the
exhibition tour of 26 Universities
and Colleges in the country.
Geographical photos were displayed
to help students understand the
true meaning of a geographical
picture.
The exhibition was opened by Dr.
Abdullah Saad Al-Khanbashi, UAEU
Vice Chancellor and attended by Dr
Fatima Al Shamsi, Secretary General
of the University, Dr Maryam Al
Marashda, Dean of Students Afairs,
Department. the Department of
Geography and Urban Planning,
and Mr Mohammad Al Hamadi,
Editor of National Geographical
Magazine in Abu Dhabi. Students
were invited to enter a competition
to display geographical photos
that they has taken and they were
recognized for frst, second and third
place. The pictures depicted natural
and human geography and the
unique natural scenery. Members
of the faculty, employees, and
students from the Center of Family
Development and the Department
of Adult Education in Al Ain
participated in the exhibition.
