Ofcials of UAEU are keen to
provide the latest technology in the
educational process to keep pace
with the latest scientifc inventions
that support the educational
process. Providing up-to-date
means of communication facilitates
obtaining helpful information to
maintain the interaction between
the teacher and students. It
connects the university and its
students to academic resources
and various references. Results
of this policy can be seen quite
clearly in the rise of the educational
standards in the University
departments and specializations.
One of the most used technologies
in the teaching – learning process
is the use of the Blackboard system,
which is a course – based system
that combines course material,
student interaction and follow
up allowing the reader to guage
the competency of the learning
– teaching process of students.
This system gives students many
opportunities to communicate
outside the lecture halls in any
place and at any time. It provides
various tools to support the content
of the course and the ability to
interact with it, in addition to
the possibility of communicating
with the course instructor and
other students enrolled in the
same course. The system allows
members of the teaching staf to
build up and compose dynamic
and interactive courses easily along
with conducting the content of
these subjects. Course instructors
build integrated electronic courses,
suggest comments and course
outlines, required assignments
and announcements. It helps the
instructor to display the semester
plan for study, exams and show
test results promptly. Moreover,
this system permits direct
communication with students
through dialogue windows and
e-mails. Further it can be connected
with other educational electronic
systems and allows students and
teachers to interact with them.
The use of Blackboard allows
teachers to construct a subject or
course website without having
experience in programming. All that
is needed for the teacher is a log
in and the use of a mouse to build
the course by following sequence
of instructions which are provided
by the system. Thus, by simple
training, the teaching staf can
construct interactive courses easily

Regarding the use of this advanced
technological system in UAEU,
the student Hadeer Mohammad,
fourth year student, Business
Administration, said that this system
allows the students to reach the
source of information easily and
enables them to choose the scientifc
materials, reach the lessons,
important research and suggested
materials whether the student is
inside and outside the university.
The student, Samar Youness,
fourth year Architecture, believes
that this system saves much of
the students time and efort and
