UAEU receives
3727 New Students
1227 Male Students & 2500 Female Students
Dr. Abdullah Saad Al-Khanbashi,
Vice Chancellor of UAEU asserted
that the university assimilates the
basic values of academic education
which pivots were founded by
H.H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al
Nahyan, President of the UAE (May
God protect him) who emphasized
that “academic education is an
inspirational national message that
can only be achieved through the
interaction between education and
the community. The university is
not merely a place of education but
rather it is the centre of intellectual
and cultural enlightenment “.
This was cited in the speech
delivered by Dr. Abdullah Saad
Al Khanbashi on the occasion of
receiving the new students at the
start of the new academic year
2011-2012 attended by 3227 male
and female students from all the
emirates and cities of the country.
The reception was held for the
frst time in the Grand Hall of the
new campus. There were 1227
male students who were received
in the morning followed by 2500
female students later in the day.
This is the biggest intake in the
history of the university. The hall
was crowded with students amid
the presence of distinguished
academics. Besides the Vice-
Chancellor, the celebration was
attended by Dr. Rory Hume, Provost,
Dr. Fatima Al Shamsi, Secretary
General, Dr. Mariam Bayshak, Dean
of Student Afairs along with a
number of Faculty Deans, Directors
of Student Housing and the
Administration of Student Activities.
A Promising Future
In the beginning, the Vice –
Chancellor conveyed the greetings
and best wishes of H.H. Sheikh
Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan,
Minister of Higher Education &
Scientifc Research and Chancellor
of the University, stressing that H.H
Sheik Nahayan Mabarak devoted
most of his time and care to the
afairs of students within the Higher
Education Institutions. Moreover
he sees in each student a promising
and brilliant future in the process
of developing the country under
the leadership of H.H Sheikh Khalifa
Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of
the UAE (May God protect him).
He added that the university
leadership is pleased to launch
the new academic year in the new
campus which possesses all the
facilities that make it an attractive
and scientifc environment for
learning Students will be able to
utilize their skills and capabilities
and in conjunction with all the
supporting units in the university,
develop knowledge and intellect
to expand their horizons of
academic achievement.
Academic education is
a national inspirational
message that can only
be achieved through the
interaction between
education and the
community
