of the profession indeed because to
themmedia is a just a post to earn a
living which fate led them to.
4. In your opinion, what are the
qualities of the successful
journalist ?
I do not think that there are specifc
qualities though they are many. Each
presenter has a special charisma
that distinguishes him or her from
others. Besides being familiar with
the community and its problems
and issues, the journalist shall be
tactful and frm but diplomatically.
He shall be interested in reliability
and be fexible with others.
The successful journalist shall
be rational, educated, culturally
versed and well-read. He should be
familiar with his society and the
social phenomena in addition to
current events and activities. The
character of the commentator is
always formed by the program he
or she presents and the persons he
is talking to whether the program
is social, entertainment or even
political.
The successful journalist is the one
who expresses the concerns of his
society and adheres to the issues
of his country. He is the voice of
others that respects them and be
so close to them not to live in his
ivory tower. He should be educated
mastering his tools and having his
message which he defends. Briefy,
the strength and success of the
commentator springs from his self-
confdence, love and admiration of
his audience.
5. How can we make environment
of media work attractive to
national competences ?
This is a difcult question. Frommy
point of view, work in the media
is ambitious, it grows up with the
person who is trying to reach the
truth despite all circumstances.
Wherever there are difculties there
should be challenges. It is important
to attract nationals to work in
media institutions through training,
qualifcation and incentives. I am
against the idea which says that
the national does not like to work
or he looks for easy jobs because
the history of the Emirates reveals
that the locals worked hard in
various works. Media is like other
professions, and journalism is the
profession of looking for truth and
facts, and it is not the profession of
looking for troubles.
6. How can you overcome work
difculties ?
By patience and then patience,
Thanks God.
7. What has UAEU ofered you? Is
you relation with the university
on-going?
It ofered me many chances of study
and training, a fact that paved the
way for me to be introduced to
media leaders and since then I had
the ambition of going on in this area.
My relation with the University is
good and it is still on-going, thanks
God.
8. What are the most important
stations and professional
achievements in your life ?
Many are the satiations at which
man stops especially when he is in
charge of some thing and has to
take decisions, and he is always in
confusion when he has to choose
between a human situation and
decisions related to work that shall
be taken. This is my beginning with
the visible media in Sama Dubai
TV through feld and talk show
programs where social personalities
in the country were invited
especially in Dubai. This makes my
professional stations many and
my achievements greater and I am
proud of them all. Then, I gradually
varied in presenting diferent
programs till I reached the stage of
reading “The Emirates News “which I
am still presenting it.
9. What is your advice to your
new student colleagues in the feld
of media ?
I advise them to be satisfed with
what they are doing because it is
the best way to success. The media
feld needs balanced courage
necessary for distinction. In the age
of globalization we do not need to
imitate in form and content instead
we need to express what is inside us
of culture, arts and literatures. The
Gulf is not only oil but it is heritage,
culture, arts and an approach to life.
My words to students that they are
given the trust of the most valuable
things in life namely forming the
minds and hearts of people. I invite
them to shoulder responsibility and
to be the torches of right and justice
and they capable of being so.
10. Any fnal word ?
Thanks a lot for your sincere eforts.
