Research Relevance and Potential Impact
The dissertation highlights the importance of the screening for pre-diabetes among Emirati
young adult’s population especially those who are obese. In addition, a comprehensive food
composition table with glycaemic index (GI) and glycaemic load (GL) values of locally consumed
foods in the UAE was established to serve as a tool for nutrition therapy planning and dietary
management of diseases in the country.

Career Aspirations
I would like to focus on two aspects of academia: teaching and research. I hope to be in a
position that allows me to pass on my knowledge to the future generation and contribute to
nutrition related research.
