Additionally, three breakthrough
community events in support of students
with special needs were organized
with the purpose of providing access
and integrating all members of the
community in UAEU: The 1st university
Forum for Special Needs over two
days in cooperation with the Special
Education department and the College
of Education; the 1st regional conference
for individuals with special needs
“Best Practices in Special Education�? in
cooperation with the Special Education
department; and participation in the 1st
Employment Exhibition for individuals
with special needs in Abu Dhabi with
active contribution of UAEU students
with disabilities.
The Department of Special
Education organized an “Autism
Day�? in collaboration with the Al Ain
Rehabilitation Center and Care for Special
Needs.
Food and Agriculture Events
The College of Food and Agriculture
organized the Food and Agriculture
Festival under the theme “Locally
Grown Farm Products�? attracting
over 6,000 visitors mainly from the Al
Ain community. The three-day event
consisted of many educational and
entertainment programs.
An Organic Field Day was held to
demonstrate a tomato farm at the
organized by the UAEU Libraries
Deanship, King Abdulaziz Public Library
and the Arabic Union Catalog Centre,
to promote and develop the skills and
experience of AUC member libraries.
Law Events
The international law firm, Hogan Lovell,
conducted training sessions for the ‘Vis’
team to support them in the Vis moot
competition; DLA Piper trained students
for the Oxford moot court competition;
and White and Case sponsored
students to take part in the Jessup moot
competition held in the USA.
The Department of Public Law organized
a symposium on “the Prospects and
Challenges of Human Resources
Legislations in the Public Sector�?, and
also the Second Scientific Legal Research
Competition, which attracted students
from all Colleges of Law in the UAE. With
cooperation of law firms, the College of
Law organized a workshop on “Legal
Clinical Education�?
Special Needs Events
The 1st Disability Services orientation for
UAEU students with Disabilities, in addition
to workshops on white cane training,
Braille Sensing Device, and Computer
Screen Reader, included for the first time
UAEU faculty and staff with “Think Abilities
not Disabilities�? focused on the effective
ways of dealing with and teaching
university students with disabilities.
